Ankh Egyptian cross vintage sterling silver pendant necklace
Solid sterling silver vintage Ankh necklace. Pendant has large attached bail. Stamped on the reverse Sterling and there is a hallmark above it but it has been cut off so it is hard to make out the letters. Good vintage condition with natural patina. Can be easily cleaned. Comes on a sterling silver box chain. The ankh is the Egyptian hieroglyphic character that means life or living. Ancient Egyptian gods are often portrayed carrying it by its loop, or bearing one in each hand with their arms crossed over their chest. It is also known as the Egyptian Cross, or as crux ansata, Latin for "cross with a handle."
Acid tests positive for sterling silver.
Pendant measures 2/3rds of an inch wide 1 and 1/4 inch tall with a half inch bail (there is a 1/4 inch of overlap).
